Commercial Product Manager

Location: Bedford, MA | Remote

Position Scope:

The Commercial Product Manager will work directly for the Exec Director, Marketing to support a broad range of product manager/project manager level responsibilities across Anika’s commercial portfolio. Invested in becoming a product level expert across product categories; committed to developing in depth procedural knowledge in focused areas. Crosses over legacy business units to lead key product/project management activities as needed.

Works with Marketing Operations, Product Strategy Team and broader Commercial Organization to define content development strategy and targeted tactical plans. Aligns with marketing and business initiatives and works closely with Product Strategy Team for collaborative execution of tactical plans. Takes active ownership of key deliverables and is accountable for successful execution and content activation.

Specific Tactical Responsibilities:

  • Develops into product and competitive expert who serves as an advisor for both internal team members and sales channel
  • Takes ownership role in developing portfolio and product level content, including creation, consolidation, conveyance, and maintenance of messaging
  • Develops talk tracks, story boards, and content to support broad portfolio conversations at customer, patient, sales rep, surgeon and internal levels to address evolving organizational needs
  • Takes raw content from Product Strategy Managers and translates it into commercial collateral including product brochures, technique guides, sales training materials, medical education content, and digital content (animated videos, app, social media, website, video, etc.)
  • Develops and executes, in conjunction with NPD and Product Strategy Teams, new product launch plans including targeting, positioning, data strategy, etc.
  • Supports product launch initiatives including development of initial training content in conjunction with Product Manager, Sales Team, Surgeon Partners and Sales Education Manager
  • Creates innovative marketing solutions, programs and tools (presentations, selling materials, tradeshow content, etc.) to create value and support the needs of the Sales team
  • Manages routing of content through internal review process and systems; develops strong working relationships with RA and Legal content reviewers
  • Revises existing content as needed to reflect most current information available and ensures adherence to organizational Brand Standards
  • Analyzes collateral/content use, reports on metrics, recommends adjustments to strategy and tactical plan based on assessments
  • Supports on-site and field-based Med Ed and Sales Ed events and activities as needed

Other Marketing Operations activities:

Special projects as needed such as:

  • Collaboration with Sales Operations for updating Anika annual price list; creating interim price list addendums as needing; aligning internal teams, routing and process management associated with price list adjustments
  • Supports commercial feedback inquiries such as: surveys to internal and distributor reps, customers, surgeons, internal stake holders on a broad range of topics
  • Engages with KOLs to develop content and messaging as needed, such as: training materials, technique guides, technique videos, case reports, podcasts, etc.
  • Represents marketing on cross functional teams
  • Other associated activities to be defined

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Collaborates with marketing and sales to ensure that the development and implementation of programs, tools, and services incorporate field input, and are executed with consistency
  • Manages routing of marketing and promotional materials through regulatory and legal approval process
  • Works with Marketing Leadership to monitor performance metrics for all initiatives/tactics, maximize high ROI activities, and adjust the investment or the tactic itself for lower-performing initiatives
  • Supports organizational needs such as Post Market Surveillance requirements
  • Creates ad hoc sales analysis and reporting
  • Works with a variety of third-party vendors, from concept to implementation and ensures delivery of quality marketing materials and services. Take ownership of vendor relationships as needed.
  • Supports Sunshine Act and Compliance initiatives as needed

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Assists with supervision of marketing coordinators and temps

Required Qualifications:

B.A. or B.S. required.

Desired Experience, Knowledge, and Skills:

  • 3+ years of proven successful marketing and or sales experience in medical device; orthopedics preferred
  • MBA preferred
  • A proven track record of professional growth and development
  • Highly organized and process driven
  • Strong project management skills
  • Experience working on cross-functional teams
  • Ability to work with significant autonomy
  • Exceptional communication and reporting skills
  • Some presentation and training experience
  • Advanced working knowledge of PowerPoint and Excel
  • Team player
  • Design experience desirable
  • Domestic travel as needed; up to 30%
