Development CAD Designer

Location: Sarasota, FL

Summary of Primary Responsibilities:

  • Participates in the design and documentation aspects of new product development and changes to existing medical device products including, but not limited to:
  • Working with Development Engineering to model new concepts
  • Executing document control tasks
  • Generating documentation related to design

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Create models and drawings in Solidworks of medical devices including instruments, implant systems, and orthopedic devices.
  • Generating, reviewing, and/or approving product documentation including, but not limited to, design documentation, drawings/prints, inspection procedures, labeling, deviation requests, change orders, bills of material, work instructions, manufacturing routing.
  • Coordinate creation of early prototypes.
  • Review drawings and other relevant documents for accuracy.

Job Complexity:

Uses knowledge of CAD software, specifically Solidworks, and document control procedures and software to support the development and ongoing manufacturing of Anika products.  Exercises judgment within broadly defined practices to select methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria for obtaining desired results.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • None

Experience, Knowledge, and Skills Required:

  • Requires a minimum of 5 years (or equivalent) in a product development environment, preferably medical devices, under a robust quality system
  • Demonstrated experience in Solidworks designing moderate to complex geometry and creating drawings using GD&T
  • Demonstrated experience with controlled documentation
  • Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel)
  • Prefer experience with ERP systems (SAP)
  • Prefer degree in Engineering or related discipline
  • Able to communicate with and service a large team, seeking resolution to priority conflicts as they occur.
