Executive Director, Operations Site Lead

Location: Sarasota, FL

Position Summary:

The Sarasota, FL site leader is responsible for managing and coordinating the activities performed at the site including all operations functions and provide dotted line direction to the Sarasota site leadership team.  The incumbent will have responsibility for the site’s performance and ensure the smooth delivery of daily operations.  (S)he will guide the daily work of the site and maximize productivity to ensure on time and in budget delivery from the facility.  The site leader is responsible for driving a culture focused on the customer, high performance, and high-quality throughput and ensuring a high level of communication and coordination amongst the cross-functional areas and to the senior leadership team members.

The Site Leader is responsible for facilitating performance management and accountability at the site, ensuring goal setting, career development and effective succession planning is in place and aligned in partnership with HR.  Additionally, s(he) works with facilities & EHS to ensure a great working environment for everyone at the Sarasota facility.

(S)he will work in a constantly changing environment where every day brings ambiguously defined problems, new challenges, and new opportunities.  The site leader balances strategic thinking with detailed execution and solid cross-functional, collaborative, results-oriented work.  (S)he will be a subject matter expert (SME) in best practices and Lean/Six Sigma project activities leading the pursuit of end-to-end process improvements.

This position involves regular communication with senior management. People management, cross-team coordination, project management.  Executive presentation skills are essential along with the ability to implement a healthy and result oriented culture.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and drive the overall direction, coordination, service delivery and quality of the operations
  • Work with functional leaders to set the vision, direction, and culture of the facility by managing individual and team performance expectations and goals, monitoring real time service levels and schedule adherence, and holding teams accountable to meet and exceed performance targets
  • Create a culture where accountability, transparency and collaboration are the norm and where rapid, root cause analysis of defects is a standard operating practice
  • Develop, implement, or change processes as necessary to allow Sarasota to scale at pace, while managing cost and meeting fulfillment targets
  • Implement programs aimed at hiring and developing top talent ensuring job ladders and career development are in place for employees at the facility
  • Inspire cross-functional teams to find creative solutions for our product issues, encouraging risk-taking and advocacy.
  • Create closed-loop feedback processes where every employee is encouraged to actively participate in identifying opportunities for improvements.
  • Work with finance & functional leaders to develop, support and manage the annual strategic and budget processes building collaborative relationships with partner functions.
  • Foster a work environment that respects and is responsive to the needs of a diverse staff
  • Improve the experience of the employees & managers as measured by improvements in attrition and employee engagement surveys.

  • Working knowledge of ERP systems, SAP preferred.

Education & Experience:

  • A minimum of fifteen years of related work experience within a cGMP environment, with ten plus years managing and developing a team.  (Medical Device strongly preferred)
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Engineering, Supply Chain, Operations Management, or related field required; Advanced degree preferred.
  • Experience in managing Manufacturing, and some experience with Quality, Engineering, R&D and Project Management in the Healthcare Industry is preferred. (Medical Device strongly preferred)
  • Proven ability to make and implement decisions
  • Experience in leading large teams to high levels of performance, developing future leaders and creating succession plans
  • Experience in creating and contributing to strategic planning processes
  • Understanding of financial processes such as P&L calculations and COGS
  • Experience working on MS Excel, analyzing data, and presenting to senior management
  • Experience in building a culture of empowerment, accountability, and continuous improvement


The position will report to the Vice President of Operations and will be located at Anika’s Sarasota, FL facility and will require regular onsite presence.  Competitive compensation will be commensurate with experience.
