Senior Manager, Financial Reporting

Location: Bedford, MA

Position Scope:

The Senior Manager, Financial Reporting is responsible for managing the preparation and filing of the Company’s external financial statements and related SEC filings, researching, and documenting technical accounting positions for the Company, main liaison and coordinating requests and information with the Company’s external auditors and assisting in oversight of Company’s SOX and internal control processes.

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Identifies, research and documents key accounting positions and adoption of new accounting policies
  • Manages the preparation and submission of quarterly/annual financial statements with the SEC
  • Reviews and edits for consistency material received for the Overview, MD&A and Risk Factors sections
  • Establishes and manages SEC quarterly close timelines and deliverables for the consolidated entity
  • Reviews and approves XBRL filings
  • Interfaces and manages requests from external auditors for quarterly reviews and annual audits
  • Assists in working with Company’s Senior Manager, Financial Controls and Compliance and company partners in overseeing the Company’s SOX internal controls documentation and compliance
  • Main finance contact in overseeing Company’s equity and stock compensation reporting
  • Assist with other financial reporting obligations (e.g.: Proxy filings, earnings releases, statutory reporting, etc.)
  • Completes special projects or other duties as assigned

Job Complexity:

Works on problems of diverse scope where analysis of data requires evaluation of identifiable factors. Exercises judgment within generally defined practices and policies in selecting methods and techniques to obtain solutions.

Supervisory Responsibilities:


Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting with at least 5+ years of financial accounting experience:
  • Audit manager experience at a national auditing firm
  • CPA required; Masters preferred
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP required and SEC Regulation S-X and S-K
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong project management and organization skills
  • Good computer skills (Excel, PowerPoint, Word), SAP knowledge plus
  • Accountable, assertive and results oriented
  • Robust internal controls understanding and documentation of relevant financial processes and transactions
  • Experience in accounting software; SAP experience preferred

Desired Experience, Knowledge, and Skills:

  • Biotech/medical device and public company experience a plus, but not required; commercial and manufacturing experience preferred
  • Ability to question norms and respectfully challenge others
  • Self-motivated and ability to work independently and collaboratively with strong organizational skills
  • Detail oriented, ability to accomplish multiple tasks within the agreed upon timeframes through effective prioritization of duties and functions in a fast-paced environment
