Hyalofast Cartilage Repair Matrix

A Single-Stage Hyaluronic Acid-Based Matrix to Repair Cartilage Lesions

Are you experiencing chronic pain, stiffness and limited function due to a cartilage injury or defect? One of Anika’s regenerative solutions uses a matrix comprised of hyaluronic acid, a vital component of healthy cartilage and tissue function, to offer patients a minimally invasive, single surgery option for cartilage repair and help them return to their active lifestyle.

Hyalofast

Hyalofast® is a biodegradable matrix used to repair cartilage defects, called chondral or osteochondral lesions, depending on the severity and depth of the lesion. Hyalofast acts as a three-dimensional support for your mesenchymal stem cells. Once Hyalofast is implanted in the cartilage lesion, it fills the defect and progressively, through spontaneous degradation, enriches the implantation site with hyaluronic acid, while the mesenchymal stem cells grow into new cartilage, repairing your cartilage lesion. Hyalofast plays a major role in tissue repair. It facilitates the recovery of cartilage tissue by essentially trapping mesenchymal stem cells in the cartilage lesion to regenerate the tissue, essentially helping the body repair itself.

The unique design and handling properties of Hyalofast make it quickly and easily implantable via minimally invasive surgery. It permits a one-step cartilage repair surgery, avoiding the need for or cost of a second surgery. Clinical evidence shows Hyalofast has been clinically proven to be safe and effective in medium-to-long-term follow-up of 8 years to repair chondral or osteochondral lesions.
