Senior Maintenance Electrician

Summary of Primary Responsibilities:

Responsible to provide electrical maintenance and installation service to all departments through work order process. The Electrician will provide general maintenance support as directed. Responsible for completing required documentation of activities in compliance with GMP.

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Maintain, repair and test building fire alarm system.
  • Perform general electrical maintenance, installation including power supply and control wiring, as well as troubleshoot electrical systems.
  • Responsible for electrical supply and connection to new and existing equipment
  • Maintain centralized building lighting management.
  • Provide general maintenance and support to all departments as directed.
  • Daily duties include but are not limited to: light plumbing, painting, mechanical installation, light and lamp maintenance, outside grounds work, and electrical based duties. 
  • Employee is to obtain training required to maintain licenses and certifications.
  • Performs other job related duties as assigned.
  • Perform corrective and preventive maintenance on manufacturing and process equipment specific to a GMP manufacturing facility.
  • Must be able to interpret drawings, wiring diagrams, and equipment specifications in order to effectively perform troubleshooting and repair activities on equipment.
  • Respond to emergency service calls and resolve identified issues in a timely manner and in accordance with all safety, quality and compliance requirements.
  • Perform weekend walkthrough duties according to schedule.
  • Participate in an On-Call rotation for off hour facility emergencies.

Job Complexity:

Requires professional skills training and licensing. Works on problems that are extremely complex in nature where independent action and a high degree of initiative are required to resolve problems and develop recommendations. Acts independently to determine methods and procedures on assignments.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

May supervise outside contractors in the absence of the Facilities Manager or directly related to the trade.

Experience, Knowledge, and Skills Preferred:

  • Instrumentation and Controls (PLC, etc) knowledge and experience for troubleshooting equipment 
  • Experience with centralized UPS systems and their maintenance. 
  • Working knowledge of Notifier Fire Alarm System and experience repairing and maintaining. 
  • Broad trade knowledge including plumbing and general mechanical skills.
  • Ability to read complex prints, comprehend and apply advanced mathematics and precision measuring equipment to meet drawing specifications.
  • Experience with Building Management Systems (BMS)
  • 2I Industrial Wastewater Treatment license or the ability to obtain one within one year of employment.
  • Ability to obtain a Commonwealth of MA Special Operators License for Steam Boilers within one year of employment.
  • Knowledge of and experience with NFPA 70E requirements and compliant practices.
  • Experience working within a cGMP environment.

Experience, Knowledge, and Skills Required:

  • Requires a minimum of 5 years’ experience as an electrician working in a commercial capacity or equivalent setting. 
  • Active Electrical Journeyman’s (Class B) or Master Electrician (Class A) license from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
